Who do I call about surrendering my pet?
Please consider contacting one of the rescue groups Animal Care Services has approved as part of the Animal Care Services rescue program and see if they can help you. You may also contact one of the local animal shelters to see if they can take your unwanted pet. A rescue list is available online at: http://www.sanantonio.gov/animalcare/programs/rescue.aspx For city owner surrender please call (210) 207-6642 for an appointment. For an owner surrender of a county animal please call Customer Service at 311 or (210) 207-6000 and open a County Owner Surrender service request. Customer Service is available 365 days a year from 7:00am to 11:00pm. An Animal Care Services officer will contact you to schedule an appointment for pickup and provide a requirements list. Owner Surrender Fees for the City of San Antonio are $40.00 per animal, unincorporated areas of Bexar County are $50.00 per animal, and incorporated areas of Bexar County are $40.00 per animal.
Appointments are scheduled on Wednesdays only, from 7:00am to 10:00am.
