Who do I call about surrendering my pet?

Please consider contacting one of the rescue groups Animal Care Services has approved as part of the Animal Care Services rescue program and see if they can help you. You may also contact one of the local animal shelters to see if they can take your unwanted pet.

¿In order to ensure available housing and resources, ACS accepts owner surrendered pets from City residents by appointment only. For city owner surrender, please call (210) 207-6642 for an appointment. Appointments are scheduled on Wednesdays only, from 7:00am to 10:00am. Owner Surrender Fees for the City of San Antonio are $40.00 per animal. Per County contract, ACS will no longer directly accept animals from County residents including owner surrendered pets. Bexar County Animal Control can be reached at (210) 335-9000. San Antonio¿s 3-1-1 customer service line can no longer route calls for animal complaints outside the City¿s jurisdiction.¿
